The Reef: Stalked finds clever ways to show and interact with the shark that many low-budget shark films don’t attempt.
The Reef: Stalked is a solid, serious shark movie. While the body count is lower than I like in a shark film, the director does a great job of having the shark attack and terrify characters in more ways than just getting drug under. The kills that do happen are more intense because The Reef: Stalked shows the shark attacking rather than saving money on the victims just disappearing. While some of the acting isn’t incredible, and there are the typical clumsily falling into the water moments throughout, the characters make some smart decisions and fight back rather than just getting picked off one by one. I enjoyed The Reef: Stalked much more than its predecessor (thankfully, you can see this one without seeing the first one). It's nowhere near as good as The Shallows, but it’s a decent movie if you're a shark movie fan.
