The Price of Silence

a review by CinemaSerf

It is good to see Gordon Jackson in a meatier role than his usual supporting cast parts. Here, he is an ex-con who, having struggled to go straight after his release from prison for embezzlement, has changed his name. He gets a job working for an estate agent and makes quite a go of it. One of the blokes he encountered in prison (Sam Kydd) cottons on to his secret though and starts to blackmail him. Things soon escalate out of control as an eccentric client is found murdered in his office and he becomes the prime suspect. It's a well stitched together effort and starts off quite interestingly, but sadly develops into a rather humdrum melodrama.
